Fi’s Playbook 🚨

For the people who don’t watch sports… but still want to know what’s going on.

A quick rundown of the biggest stories in sports—without assuming you know every player, rule, or stat. Whether you’re at happy hour, in the office, watching with friends, or on a date with a sports fanatic, you’ll have something to contribute to the conversation.

Last week I was checking the standings.

This week I would like to un-check them.

The Panthers put together one of the ugliest performances I’ve watched from them this season. The Brewers have a World Series lead. The WNBA Finals are completely tied up. College football rearranged the rankings AGAIN.

And both the Chiefs AND 49ers finally lost.

So yes.

We have plenty to discuss.

The Panthers crash back to earth, the World Series heats up & apparently undefeated teams are an endangered species.

🏆 What Happened This Week

🐾 I DON’T KNOW WHO THAT TEAM WAS.

Last week, I was cautiously asking if the Panthers might actually be… good?

This week?

Absolutely not.

Carolina got absolutely embarrassed by Tampa Bay 43–13 at home, falling back to 3–3. And the score honestly doesn’t even fully explain how disgusting this game was.

The Panthers turned the ball over four times, Bryce Young threw two interceptions, got sacked five times, lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown — and Tampa scored 22 points off Carolina mistakes.

And the defense???

Tampa ran for 258 yards.

For context, Carolina had allowed only 81 rushing yards COMBINED in the previous two games.

Where did that defense go???

At halftime it was 33–6.

Two home games ago, Bank of America Stadium was chanting MVP for Bryce.

Sunday?

They were booing the Panthers off the field.

And honestly… deserved.

This did not look like the team I’ve been watching this season. They looked sloppy, flat and completely unprepared.

I can handle a loss.

I cannot handle whatever THAT was.

Oh — and now they have to turn around and play Green Bay on Thursday night.

Excellent!

⚾️ MILWAUKEE IS ONE WIN AWAY.

The Brewers waited 44 years to get back to the World Series and apparently have no interest in wasting the opportunity.

They are now one win away from their first World Series title in franchise history.

Milwaukee absolutely demolished Tampa Bay 10–1 in Game 3 to take a 3–0 series lead.

And the craziest part?

They scored EIGHT runs with two outs in the fifth inning — the most two-out runs ever scored in a single inning of a World Series game.

Tampa Bay officially has zero room for error.

🏀 YEAR TWO. TITLE IN SIGHT.

The Valkyries beat Atlanta 64–55 in Game 5 and now lead the WNBA Finals 3–2.

Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton each had 13 points, while Golden State’s defense forced 17 Atlanta turnovers that turned into 21 points.

And just a reminder:

This is only Golden State’s second season as a franchise.

Now they’re one win away from a championship.

Casual.

🏀 THE NBA CAME BACK AND IMMEDIATELY GOT INTERESTING.

We are ONE WEEK into the NBA season and Luka Dončić is already doing Luka Dončić things.

He dropped 52 points against Utah as the Lakers improved to 3–0.

Meanwhile, the defending champion Knicks?

0–3.

We are three games into an 82-game season, so nobody panic.

But also…

New York, you good?

And because apparently everyone decided to score this week, Nikola Jokić already has another triple-double, Anthony Edwards dropped 45, and the new-look Sixers erased a 29-point deficit in one of their wins.

Basketball is officially back.

🏈 COLLEGE FOOTBALL STILL REFUSES TO BE NORMAL.

Remember when BYU climbed all the way to No. 2?

That lasted approximately five minutes.

Unranked UCF beat BYU 39–31 in double overtime, making this the third straight week that a top-two team has lost to an unranked opponent.

Miami stayed undefeated and remains No. 1, while Ohio State moved up to No. 2 and Georgia climbed back to No. 3.

At this point, I suggest we stop getting emotionally attached to rankings.

They clearly mean nothing on Saturdays.

📺 What to Watch This Week

⚾️ WORLD SERIES - Game 4 (Tuesday, Oct. 27 - 8:00 PM ET)
Milwaukee leads the series 3–0, which means Game 4 could be it.

The Brewers win tonight?

They’re World Series champions for the first time ever.

Tampa Bay’s only option: win and keep the season alive.

No pressure!

🏀 WNBA Finals - Game 6 (Thursday, Oct. 29 - 12:30 PM ET)
Golden State leads the series 3–2, which means Thursday could be championship day.

The Valkyries win?

They’re WNBA champions in Year TWO.

Atlanta wins?

We get a Game 7.

No pressure!

🏈 Panthers @ Packers (Thursday, Oct. 29 - 8:15 PM ET)
After Sunday?

Normally I would say I’m excited.

Right now I just need confirmation that the actual Carolina Panthers plan on showing up to Lambeau.

Please and thank you.

🏈 No. 17 Florida @ No. 3 Georgia (Saturday, Oct. 31 - 3:30PM ET)
One of college football’s biggest rivalries, both teams ranked, and Georgia is trying to stay near the top of the playoff picture while Florida would LOVE to ruin that.

And considering highly ranked teams have been dropping left and right lately…

Georgia, I’d stay alert.

🏈 Eagles @ Commanders (Sunday, Nov. 1 - 8:20 PM ET)
An NFC East rivalry under the lights.

Given how both of these teams have been ending games lately, I’m expecting something completely normal and stress-free.

Obviously.

🏈 Bears @ Seahawks (Monday, Nov. 2 - 8:15PM ET)
Chicago heads to Seattle for Monday night.

And considering Seattle just held Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to three points?

Might be worth staying up for.

🚨 Sports Chaos Headlines

🐔 SOUTH CAROLINA STUNS TENNESSEE. Tennessee tied it late, then fumbled with 33 seconds left. South Carolina kicked a 48-yard walk-off field goal to win 27–24. Siri…. play sandstorm.

🏹 THE CHIEFS FINALLY LOST. Seattle held Kansas City to THREE POINTS in a 20–3 win Sunday night. Did not have that on my Bingo Card.

👋🏼 AND SO DID THE 49ERS. Atlanta handed San Francisco its first loss, forcing four turnovers in a 29–20 win. So much for undefeated Sunday.

🟣 MINNESOTA IS THE LAST ONE STANDING. With Kansas City and San Francisco losing, the 6–0 Vikings are now the NFL’s only undefeated team.

🐬 MIAMI FINALLY WON A GAME. The Dolphins beat the Jets 28–25 for their first win of the season. It took until Week 7, but we got there.

🏀 LUKA DROPPED 52 LIKE It WAS NOTHING. Fifty-two points. Ten assists. Lakers 3-0. Welcome back, NBA.

☕️ What's The Tea?

TOM BRADY APPARENTLY HAS A TYPE.

Tom Brady is reportedly dating Victoria’s Secret supermodel Candice Swanepoel — and apparently this has been going on since June.

The two both live in Miami and have reportedly been going out of their way to keep things VERY low-key — avoiding the usual South Beach spots and meeting up in quieter areas so they wouldn’t get photographed together.

Which means this wasn’t some random “we were spotted together once” rumor.

They’ve apparently been seeing each other for months.

Now here’s the part everyone immediately clocked:

Candice is a longtime Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Tom’s ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen? Also a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

And because apparently we needed one more layer… Candice once picked Tom as the person she’d “kill” in a game of FMK.

So naturally, years later they’re reportedly dating.

Rom-com writers, take notes.

Neither Tom nor Candice has publicly confirmed anything yet, but multiple outlets are reporting they’ve been together for a while.

All I’m saying is…

Tom Brady may have retired from football, but apparently scouting is still very much part of the job. ☕️

🛋️ Fi’s Couch Report

I need to get something off my chest.

What. Was. That.

I have watched this Panthers team look competitive all season.

I’ve watched the offense move the ball. I’ve watched the defense actually make stops. I watched them beat Detroit. I watched them go into PHILLY and win.

So please explain to me who showed up Sunday wearing Panthers uniforms.

Because that was disgusting.

Four turnovers. Five sacks. 258 rushing yards allowed. Down 33–6 at halftime.

At HOME.

On the day Luke Kuechly got his Hall of Fame ring???

Jail.

And maybe the worst part is that two home games ago we were chanting MVP for Bryce.

This week people were BOOING them into halftime.

The emotional whiplash is crazy.

I’m not mad because they lost.

Teams lose.

I’m mad because they looked nothing like the team we’ve been watching all season.

So Carolina, you have approximately four days to figure out whatever THAT was before Thursday night in Green Bay.

Because I refuse to sit through another three hours of that.

Thank you!

🤯 Sports Fun Fact

Sunday’s Steelers–Saints game was the first regular-season NFL game ever played in France.

The league has now played regular-season games in countries including England, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Ireland and France.

The NFL is basically collecting passport stamps at this point.

💬 One Thing to Bring Up This Week

“The Vikings are the only undefeated team left this season.”

That’s It. Short, memorable, and enough to make It sound like you’ve been keeping up with the standings this season.

💭 Fi’s Final Thoughts

Last week I was asking if the Panthers were good.

This week I’m asking them to please never do that to me again.

Football humbled us quickly, the World Series is getting serious, the WNBA Finals are tied, the NBA is already chaotic and college football continues to punish anyone who gets comfortable near the top of the rankings.

Basically?

Nobody is safe.

Especially my emotional stability as a Panthers fan.

See you next week.

Now you know. 💚
