Fi’s Playbook 🚨

For the people who don’t watch sports… but still want to know what’s going on.

A quick rundown of the biggest stories in sports—without assuming you know every player, rule, or stat. Whether you’re at happy hour, in the office, watching with friends, or on a date with a sports fanatic, you’ll have something to contribute to the conversation.

Apparently all we needed was Sunday Night Football, a little home-field energy, and October sports officially kicking into gear to give us PLENTY to talk about this week.

The Panthers gave us an actual prime-time win. Jacksonville walked into Cincinnati and said DUUUVAL. The WNBA playoffs are heating up. October baseball is in full swing.

Sports are busy right now. I love it here.

Lets catch up.

Prime-time Panthers, DUUUUVAL delivers & October sports are officially doing the most.

🏆 What Happened This Week

🐾 THE PANTHERS WON. ON SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

Carolina beat the Detroit Lions 32–26 in their first Sunday Night Football appearance in more than a decade — and this wasn’t a “we somehow survived” type of win. The offense actually looked GOOD.

Bryce Young threw for 329 yards, Tetairoa McMillan went absolutely insane with 192 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Chuba Hubbard added 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns. At one point, there were even MVP chants for Bryce inside Bank of America Stadium.

I am not saying we start planning the parade.

I am saying… let us enjoy this.

The Panthers are now 2–2 heading into their bye week.

🐆 The Jags Are Cooking

The Jacksonville Jaguars went into Cincinnati and beat the Bengals 22–17, improving to 3–1 on the season.

And honestly? This one was kind of messy. There were penalties everywhere, Joe Burrow threw for 428 yards, and Cincinnati still couldn't get it done.

Why? Jacksonville's defense kept showing up when it mattered.

They intercepted Burrow twice and held the Bengals to just 23 rushing yards. Translation: Cincinnati could throw the ball all over the field, but Jacksonville basically said, you're not running anywhere.

The Jags now head straight into another big one against the Eagles — except this time they're doing it in London.

DUUUVAL is going international.

🏀 The WNBA Semifinals Started With A Plot Twist

The defending champion Las Vegas Aces opened the semifinals with a loss, while the Atlanta Dream took care of New York.

So if you assumed the usual suspects were just going to cruise into the Finals?

Not so fast.

The playoffs continue this week, and suddenly things are VERY interesting.

🏈 CeeDee Lamb Said “Fine, I’ll Do It Myself”

Dallas came back to beat Houston 34–30, and CeeDee Lamb basically decided he was going to take over the game himself.

He finished with 17 catches for 189 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown with less than a minute left.

For context: 17 catches in one game is ridiculous.

So if you have CeeDee on your fantasy team, congratulations.

If you were playing against him… my condolences.

📺 What to Watch This Week

⚾️ Dodgers @ Braves (Tuesday, Oct. 6 - 6:00 PM ET)
Their series is tied 1–1, so we're officially in the part of baseball where every game feels like a crisis. Game 3 heads to Atlanta Tuesday night.

And keep an eye on the rest of the Division Series all week — by Friday and Saturday we could have win-or-go-home Game 5s.

🏈 Buccaneers @ Cowboys (Thursday, Oct. 8 - 8:15 PM ET)
After CeeDee Lamb basically took over last weekend, now Dallas gets the prime-time spotlight. If you're only watching one thing Thursday night, this is it.

🏀 WNBA Semi-finals - Dream @ Liberty (Friday, Oct. 9 - 7:30 PM ET) & Valkyries @ Aces (Friday, Oct. 9 - 9:30 PM ET)
Two Game 3s, four teams left, and we're officially getting close to the Finals. If either series needs a Game 4, those happen Sunday.

🏈 No. 2 Georgia @ No. 6 Alabama (Saturday, Oct. 10 - 7:30PM ET)
Two undefeated SEC teams. Top-10 matchup. Tuscaloosa at night. You really don't need me to sell this one much more than that.

🏈 Ravens @ Falcons (Sunday, Oct. 11 - 8:20 PM ET)
Baltimore heads to Atlanta for Sunday night — and yes, this gives us another reason to care about a Falcons game that doesn't involve the Panthers.

🏈 Bills @ Rams (Monday, Oct. 12 - 8:15PM ET)
Josh Allen. The Rams. Monday night.

Perfect way to end the sports week before we do this all over again Tuesday.

🚨 Sports Chaos Headlines

🐾 The Panthers have scored 30+ points THREE times already. That is the first time in franchise history Carolina has done that in three of its first four games. Who is this team???

🚑 NFL Sunday was basically an injury report. Lamar Jackson, Ja’Marr Chase, Saquon Barkley, Tee Higgins and several other big names all went down or left games early. Absolutely brutal weekend.

🦬 Buffalo is undefeated no more. The Patriots pulled off a 29–26 upset over the Bills, with Drake Maye throwing the late touchdown that helped hand Buffalo its first loss of the season.

⚾️ Milwaukee is one win away from sending San Diego home. The Brewers took a 2–0 series lead over the Padres after a walk-off win. October baseball is already being dramatic.

🐊 Florida got humbled FAST. One week after upsetting No. 4 Ole Miss, the Gators turned around and lost 45–17 to Missouri. College football will never let you get too confident.

☕️ What's The Tea?

The Refs Are Arguing Back Now???

During the Cardinals–Giants game, Arizona tight end Trey McBride was looking for a pass-interference call after he got hit before the ball arrived.

No flag.

Naturally, McBride went over to plead his case. According to a reporter standing nearby, he was definitely heated, but he was saying things like “please” and “you’re ruining the game.”

The response from line judge Jeff Seeman?

Well… the cameras caught him appearing to curse directly at McBride. Twice.

And because apparently Sunday was also a rough day for the officiating crew, referee Adrian Hill had his own heated interaction with a Vikings player after getting accidentally knocked over during a play.

The NFL has since suspended Seeman for two games and Hill for one for “unprofessional conduct toward a player.”

The NFLPA’s point was basically: players get fined and penalized when they cross the line with refs, so officials should be held accountable too.

And honestly?

Fair.

Apparently this week even the refs made The Tea. ☕️

🛋️ Fi’s Couch Report

Okay, the VIBES at Sunday Night Football were unreal.

Bank of America Stadium was loud from the second we walked in — blackout game, Keep Pounding chants, MVP chants for Bryce, and Sweet Caroline absolutely BLARING through the stadium.

And then the Panthers actually gave us a win on top of all of it???

The whole place felt alive. Everyone was standing, screaming, high-fiving strangers — it was one of those games where you remember why going in person is so much fun.

I went in hoping for a good atmosphere.

I left fully convinced we were going to the Super Bowl.

Kidding.

…kind of.

🤯 Sports Fun Fact

The Panthers' 121 points through their first four games are the most in franchise history.

Yes — more than the 2015 Super Bowl team.

The previous record was 109 points in 2016.

I'm just delivering the information. Do with it what you will.

💬 One Thing to Bring Up This Week

“CeeDee Lamb has 17 catches in one game.”

That’s It. Short, memorable, and enough to make It sound like you watched the whole thing.

💭 Fi’s Final Thoughts

This week was just FUN.

The Panthers actually won in prime time, CeeDee decided 17 catches was a normal thing to do, the Jags are quietly cooking, and somehow the refs ended up in the drama too.

October sports are officially doing the most, and honestly… I’m not mad about it.

See you next week for whatever chaos comes next.

Now you know. 💚
